Operations & Maintenance

  • Operations & Maintenance - Case Study 1

For more than five years, Apex has been performing on-site inspections at more than 700 airports for an aviation fuel provider to ensure independent operators are maintaining purchased fuels to industry standards. Our team of scientist and technicians—strategically located across the U.S.—inspect fuel quality, filtering and mechanical conditions, and general record keeping for sites in 48 States. With nearly 2,000 inspections performed, we make use of inspection data easy through an online database accessed by our client and the inspected facilities.

  • Operations & Maintenance - Case Study 2

For a military housing community located in a remote area of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, properly operating drinking water and wastewater systems are essential. From engineering design to operations and maintenance, Apex’s wastewater engineers, licensed wastewater operators, and emergency response staff ensure that this community’s drinking water and wastewater systems offer residents a clean drinking water supply and efficient wastewater treatment.

  • Operations & Maintenance - Case Study 3

Our nation’s leading defense contractor needed help to ensure compliance with the Department of Defense Aircraft Tire Privatization Initiative (ATPI) which imposes requirements for the disposition of used tires. Our client contracted an international firm to establish and maintain a network of independent tire hauler, storage, and recycling facilities to retrieve and properly manage the resale, disposal, and in some cases return of aircraft tires to manufacturers for retread. Apex performed third-party compliance and operational audits for all of the contractor’s networked facilities, ensuring ATPI compliance and putting our client at ease.

  • Facilities - Operations & Maintenance- Case Study 4

A military client wanted to proceed with numerous construction, blast cleaning, and painting operations.  Not only did Apex develop a Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) air permit amendment application and a Title V revision application, we were able to expedite this process with regulatory agencies.  Our work resulted in more than doubling the allowable emissions while maintaining site wide caps and material flexibility.  Because of our Best Available Control Technology (BACT) analysis, VOC controls were not required.  The result?  A cost savings to the client of -50 million over a 10-year period.

  • Facilities - Operations & Maintenance - Case Study 5

For one of the world’s largest producers of lead acid batteries, efficient operation of their class II non-hazardous industrial waste landfill is critical for day to day facility waste management.  Apex designed and implemented landfill expansion and disposal methodology changes to minimize facility operation cycle time.  Modifications included waste placement, haul road alignments, contact and non-contact storm water management changes, interim cover and final cover designs that will significantly reduce waste exposure.

  • Facilities - Operations & Maintenance- Case Study 6

When a major chemical company needed multi-faceted support, it hired Apex to manage its comprehensive water quality services.  This included NPDES industrial wastewater discharge permitting, NPDES stormwater permitting, water re-use evaluations, EPCRA reporting, and annual TRI reporting as part of a management program.  When turned over to the client, the program, protocols, and procedures that we developed minimized our client’s liability by ensuring compliance with multiple regulations.
