The redevelopment of several city blocks and the construction of a high-rise office building, hotel, retail, and parking garages were at risk due to the presence of 20 leaking underground storage tanks on multiple parcels. Not only did Apex remove the leaking USTs, we saved the client approximately $ 500,000 by obtaining authorization for the onsite reuse of over 3,000 tons of contaminated soil. Further, Apex designed, installed and operated a groundwater treatment system during construction and converted the system to a permanent facility to enable construction of the proposed parking garage.

In an effort to expand the south campus of a prestigious university, the school acquired vacant land from the National Parks Service.  It was discovered that a portion of the property previously housed a fueling and vehicle service facility.  After Apex piloted an investigation, we determined that the existing structures remained below grade and petroleum heavily impacted the property.  Utilizing in-house capabilities, Apex installed a sophisticated shoring system and conducted the removal and disposal of 15 underground storage tanks (USTs) and more than 2,000-tons of petroleum-impacted soils.  Upon completing the removal activities and a stringent confirmatory sampling event, Apex expedited a site closure for the property facilitating the purchase and expansion of the campus.
